Motocross Invades Swain Ski Slopes

Swain, NY (July 27, 2010) The 2010 summer events calendar at Swain Resort now includes motocross, officially named Swain Mountain Motocross.  Swain Mountain Motocross is sponsored by Arkport Cycles of Arkport, NY and MotoOption of Ontario, NY.  The race schedule kicks off August 7 at 10:00am with a pro rider payout of $3000.   Additional races are slated for September 11 and October 2.

The motocross track at Swain spans the width of several ski slopes and is approximately 1 mile long.  Much of the track can be seen from the ski lodge and viewing area below, while the ski lift carries spectators over the track to an upper viewing area. The Shawmut Pub, the slope side bar & grill at Swain Resort, opens during each race.  Friday and Saturday nights of race weekends, live entertainment is provided.  Free camping and level parking are available.

Each race is open to all riders for a fee of $20-$25, based on bike size.  Classes range from 4 years old and up, with twenty-eight different classes available.  Spectators are encouraged to attend and the gate fee is $10.
